Internal Wharf
This house makes a design feature of the passageway that links the main living areas, both indoor and outdoor, with the rest of the house. A grid covered glass roofed ceiling fills the centre of the house with light, and the horizontally laid, lightly textured floors leads the eye both metaphorically and physically to the jetty at the foot of the grounds. Horizontally glazed doors that alternate massive hardwood glazing bars with bands of clear glass, juxtapose the use of lightness and dark that so energises this house. Outside, the floor continues in a board-walk that allows you to reach the jetty without your feet getting wet should you go out to watch the sun set.
