Location
Pauanui, situated on the sunny and sheltered east coast of New Zealand‘s Coromandel Peninsula, is a mere 30 minutes to Auckland by private plane or charter flight. By road the 150 kilometre, ninety minute journey takes you on good quality roads through lush New Zealand bush and pastoral countryside, and alongside the picturesque Tairua harbour.
Pauanui town centre is small but well serviced. It has a supermarket, cafes, a bakery and even a fashion boutique to indulge in a little retail therapy. Recreational opportunities abound. On land, wander through the bush to visit the historic gold fields, or for a modest annual fee, the Pauanui Sports and Recreation Club provides unlimited access to golf courses, tennis courts and bowling greens. Quite separate is the newly opened Lakes Resort Golf Course. This is said to be one of the top four international level courses in the country and if golf is your passion this might well be the place for you.
And within half an hour of casting off from your own private jetty you could be game fishing or diving for shellfish in the Pacific Ocean. You could also do nothing more energetic than cruise the spectacular coastline until you find a secluded beach with nothing on it except your footsteps.
