Courtyard Entertaining Area
To the easterly side of the living pavilion, set behind high gabion enclosed stone walls is the outdoor entertaining area. Here honed concrete tiles form a level, easy to maintain surface, while the dark stained iron bark pagoda structure that forms the pergola above it links this area visually with the rest of the house.
Here you can choose to use the wood fired pizza oven with its honed basalt mantle (with a gas starter mechanism to make its use a breeze) or the mobile barbecue gas fired barbecue unit. Like the pizza oven, both it and the adjoining sink have basalt tops, and both can be disconnected from their utilities for storage in the garage when not in use. Not only does this prolong their good looks but means that the courtyard can be kept uncluttered if this is required for big gatherings. All the furniture is made to measure out of the same dark stained recycled iron bark that is used throughout the house. The courtyard is fully, but discretely, plumbed for gas heating should that be required.
