Living Room
The main living area is a graceful light filled pavilion with floors of marble terrazzo inlaid with iron bark grids. This orientally inspired grid repeats as a linking design motif throughout the house, and can be seen most powerfully on the dark stained exterior sliding shutters. Its soaring vaulted ceilings and zen like proportions flow gracefully to the kitchen at one end and to the various outdoor living areas that surround it. For cooler days, a basalt fireplace with a gas assisted start for its wood fire adds heart to the under-floor heating. This, like the subtle light from the recessed Domino fittings and the motorised concealed blinds, is controlled by a computerised Lutron system. Altogether this is a room which combines intimacy with sophistication, simplicity with elegance; all lifestyles could find a place to relax in here.
